THE DESTINATIONS

Sespe Wilderness-  The Sespe Wilderness lies in Los Padres Forest in Ventura County North of Ojai off Highway 33.  The well
maintained trail follows the Sespe river down stream approximately 12 miles with many river crossings.  The scenery is spectacular
with rugged rocky hill sides with pines, oaks, and sycamore trees.  The Willet Hot Springs horse camp has a fenced horse pasture,
spring fed water system and a rustic bunk house on a first come basis.  Trout fishing is catch and release and can be excellent in the
spring depending on rainfall.  There are several hot springs available to soak sore muscles and backsides,  including a picturesque
sulfur hot spring capable of fitting 8-10 people!!  The Sespe was the home of the last remaining Grizzly Bear in California and still
supports an abundance of wildlife.  It's not uncommon to spot black bear, bobcats, deer, beaver, and an occasional condor along the
Wild Sespe River Canyon.

Painted Cave Sierra Madres- The Aliso Canyon trail head is accessed from the 166 before New Cuyama.  The trail "switch backs" up a
narrow canyon and comes out on the ridge tops of the Sierra Madres.  This scenic trail offers an awesome view of the whole Cuyama
Valley to your left and Sisquoc River Valley to your right.  The Painted Caves which once was an old Indian ceremonial site still
contains petroglyph's inside rock caves a short walk from camp.  Camp is equipped with table, fire ring, fenced pasture, hitching
post and a well maintained outhouse.  There is a delicious spring 1/4 mile from camp.  From camp the Jackson trail leads down to the
Sisquoc River in breathtaking switchbacks.  Going south you can ride to the head of Lion Canyon and soak in the incredible Arizona
type rock formations.  Wildlife is abundant here,  we often see coyotes and bobcats prowling the huge meadows.  Golden eagles,
California condors and ravens patrol the ridge lines.   Spiritual and sacred country.
